..:: Welcome to Julian's server - Thor ::..

IT HAS BEEN A LOT MORE THAN THE FEW DAYS I EXPECTED MY SERVER WILL BE DOWN BUT NOW IT IS FACT THE GRIZACH IS BACK WHERE IT BELONGS TO BE - AT HOME :)
I HAVE ALSO AQUIRED A NEW COOLER ADDRESS FOR IT AND SOON YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME TO http://grizachi-inc.com/.
GLAD TO SEE YOU BACK HERE GUYS!

From a mere test if I can run an Apache server on my SuSE box year and a half ago, this has now become a full blown site with a lot of various content. I started by adding my homepage and my blog there, shortly afterwards I started mirroring the Debian Sid Distro, as I changed to this operating system, because I wanted to have more control over the instrinsics of the OS. Later came the photo gallery. On a sunny day in the late summer of 2006 I decided to host some videos for the local football team of my home town. Since then even more and more content have been constatly comming to the site.

    You can easily navigate the content using the google search box provided here. Normally all contents of this site are indexed regularly by Google so no outdated results should appear.

A short list of the contents of this server

Ofcourse on the very same server is hosted my Homepage.

Here is the link to my Blog (thanks to Georgy Chorbadjiiski for the Glog sources)

I have set-up a nice Image gallery where I with the help of my friends have posted a lot of nice photos and videos of us, having fun either together or in our new environment.

One more addition to the server is a Forum dedicated to serve the needs of what was before the forum of our school class and to give the possiblity for some tighter stay-in-touch between us.

The latest but not last addition is the area dedicated for the fans of the football team of my own city in Bulgaria - Etar Etarfans. The idea is to serve as a supplementary storage for materials for the club. The page is accessible worldwide so all fans that do not live in Veliko Tarnovo now can use it to get to some videos etc.

An interesting contribution to this server is the following text on how to install the newest versions of the NVidia driver for Linux under Debian (&Co.) when using the latest kernel versions 2.6.20 or 2.6.21 for x86 platforms. It has proven to be very sought and in the same time as far as I know there is no other automated solution on the network that does this. You can find the article and the download links here

One of the things that is being hosted here is a full mirror of the Debian 32bit Sid Testing distribution.

You can add http://grizach.servebeer.com/mirrors/debian/ to your /etc/apt/sources.list file to use it. I guess you won't do it considering my miserable upstream. This server is being syncronized every day at approx. 04:25 CET or someties I run it manually if there are important updates during the day.
The 64bit Mirror is temporary offline because of storage shortage on the server to host both the 32bit and the 64bit versions (well there is enough place as a whole but not on that damn partition :-(. Oh and didn't I mention I don't host the src branch at all only binaries here.

I have set-up the phpSysInfo system for monitoring my server .

*  The server is called Thor after the Viking God of war and thunder and if some day my Server dies it will certainly go to Valhalla (not to mistake with the RedHat 7.2 distro, I mean the Vikings' Heaven) - Take a peek under it's hood here.
*  My workstation is called Atila, which I recently upgraded a bit with a 64bit CPU - that is the reason of my interest in pure 64bit OSes like Debian However I use most of the time the 32bit Debian distro because of some compatibility issues. I used to have SuSE 9.1 - 10.1 but once I got more accustomed to linux I got somewhat bothered by the way SuSE's GUIs hide a lot of the under-the-hood activities and makes it even more difficult to perform some tasks on them.

Because of the German Law I have to make it explicitly clear that I don't have any influence and connection with any information on external sites linked from the pages hosted at http://grizach.servebeer.com/ . At the moment of posting them I made my best to make sure no offensive content of any kind was there and I will be grateful for any information that invalidates this statement, as to take care to remove such links in future. Moreover I'd like to state that this server name is a dynamic redirection on DDNS server and the IP changes every 24 hours, because of the limitiations of my DSL connection. Therefore it exists the minimal chance that you are being redirected to a completely different server that has nothing in common with this one and I have no way to prevent it from happen. The dynamic redirection on the DNS server takes approx 5 to 10 minutes and my local daemon checks the changes every 30minutes. This makes a period of up to 40minutes a day (approx at 1AM CET) when the redirection is wrong! Please, in case of doubt whether you are on the correct server check again in 1 hour or contact me on the addresses given on my contacts page in the Homepage area on this server. Thank you!
